Faith Child

Faith Child (Michael Ayo) is one of the UK’s top Christian MCs, and a positive light in the music scene.  “Faith Child has been at the forefront of urban music in our community for over a decade. He has helped to define a new sound of music and redefined what an independent artist can achieve”

Muyiwa Olarewaju, Director of Premier Gospel Putting his life experiences into music, Faith Child has a remarkable story that dates back to his birth. The name ‘Faith Child’ relates to the story of how his mother was close to aborting him but heard God’s audible voice telling her to keep the child and have faith in Him. She was told that he would be a man that would serve God and be after his heart. The name Faith Child marries two scriptures together; Romans 10:17 – ‘faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God’ and

Matthew 18:3 which says ‘we must be as children to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but more so God’s child’.

Faith Child released his debut album ‘IllumiNATION’ in 2009, which went on to be the fastest selling rap album in UK Gospel that year. The album featured MOBO award winners Guvna B, Victizzle, Jahaziel and Hillsong UK. In support of his release, Faith Child independently hosted his first one-man show ‘Faith Child Live’ at the 1000+ capacity venue ‘ULU’ and had queues trailing round the block.

Always pushing to new levels, Faith Child headlined a show stopping night titled ‘The 3 Musketeers’ (T3M) at the prestigious Indigo2 in 2010. The concert saw Guvna B, Victizzle and Faith Child take the crowd by storm in a night that marked a groundbreaking moment for young Christian artists and followers from the urban music scene. Amidst all the music activity that year, he was also able to graduated from university with a Bachelors Honors Degree in Performing Arts and amass a collection of awards such as ‘Best Hip Hop/Rap’ at the 2010 Gospel Music Awards and ‘Best Gospel Act’ at the 2011 BEFFTA Awards. He was also nominated for ‘Best Gospel Act’ for the 2010 MOBO Awards and received a nomination for a Dove Award in the United States in early 2011.

Between 2011 and the present day Faith Child has spent his time touring the UK, Europe, America and Nigeria, performing in front of crowds ranging from 2,000 to 4 million. His mission has also led to media coverage in and out of the Christian music sector and it has seen him exchanging words with the Prime Minister David Cameron over tea at Downing Street.

His heart for serving and giving back and natural ability to connect with people has also resulted in him becoming the Ambassador for several initiatives in 2013 including becoming the main TV presenter for UK’s leading Christian and Inspirational music outlet –

UPRISE, spearheading a homelessness awareness campaign and sleeping rough, hosting a youth event in advocacy for the missing Nigerian Chibok girls and also being asked to become an Ambassador for Compassion UK.
